Some New Art
Creating the art for this game has probably been a bigger challenge than the actual programming of it. Given I’ve got a design background you’d imagine game art would come naturally. Unfortunately I’ve found myself slow at the process and I’ve not been able to produce consistently good artwork. But the designer in me realised that this shortcoming could be exploited, that I should design within the constraints. I mean, thats what indies do, right?
So with this constraint I considered how I could approach an art style that I could quickly develop but that would also work stylistically. What I’ve developed so far is a big deviation from the original design but I think it meshes well with the gameplay, it definitely sets a more serious tone which is good and bad. It’s not final, but here’s a quick peek of how it looks in the editor.
